South halls is nestled between the penn state campus on its northwestern side and downtown state college on the other. Pollock halls offers students coed traditional residence halls with most residents sharing a double room with one roommate. At one point both mcelwain hall and simmons hall both contained a dining complex but as of may 2011 their dining areas were eliminated to increase residential room space. Approximately 2 000 first year students call pollock halls home making it the second largest housing area for first year students.
